Lori Cusick was born in Port Jervis, New York. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in communication design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
For many years Lori juggled a successful career as a graphic designer, editorial design director and fine art painter. In 2019 she left the corporate world behind and is currently devoting all her energy and focus to her fine art.
Lori is primarily a plein air painter. She is not a re-creator of existing places. Instead, she takes inspiration from a location and manipulates it, adding a stylization from her imagination. Lori’s way of renderings trees, water ways, mountains and clouds, is powerful. She uses vivid colors, high contrast and bold strokes to extract the essence of a location.
Lori’s work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in Texas. She is a signature member of the Texas Visual Arts Association. Her works are in private and corporate collections from Montana to New York. She loves to work with clients and designers to create the perfect piece for a space.
Lori lives in Dallas with her husband. Any day of the week she can be found painting under a big straw hat in the middle of a field, next to a creek or on the side of a road.
Lori makes a conscience effort to paint in an eco-friendly manner. Using Items that are environmentally and socially friendly because of the way they are formulated, manufactured, or packaged. She insists on using only the highest quality of art materials.
