Dissection represents that secret part within that upon closer inspection carries all data for life’s journey. The center, a head and legs moving forward fan out across the dissection.
The “Ancestry Series“ paintings was begun to explore native peoples’ symbols & their meanings. The artist used these to tell universal stories. Each painting is executed free-hand with the story evolving as the design emerges. Dots of paint are applied using a number of different tools- whatever works.
Card Players is part of the “Moments in Time” series. It depicts four boys hanging out on the beach at Ocean City, New Jersey, playing cards and listening to the radio, sometime during the 1950’s. It was inspired by old family photos. Two of the boys are my uncles. It symbolizes a slower, more innocent time, when the most important technology was the family radio.
