My painting “Let it Snow 2” is an invitation to enjoy the amazing softness, sparkle and fun of falling snow.
The extravagance of the Peony inspired this large portrayal of their soft petals. I began with watercolor to capture the blooms. The painting was then mounted on a board with additional paper added for texture. Acrylic paint was then used for strong contrast to surround the blooms of “Pretty N Pink”.
“On a cold winter day at sunset on the Colorado river, a large blue heron appears. These birds are year round residents along bodies of water in Texas. I used the almost dry, river bed as a backdrop for the painting and included the seasons of color and of sepia tones to represent the transcendent presence of the heron’s lookout.”
