Circle of Life
Gallery Wrap 36 x 36
This painting was inspired by a recent river cruise on the River Rhône in France. Both from the sailing and excursions, my husband and I enjoyed such beautiful flowers and landscape that I just had to capture in a painting.
A short time after returning home I hosted and attended a Judi Betts Watercolor Workshop at our 404 Ranch. From Judi’s workshop was born the composition for the painting I had in mind.
My husband and I decided to stay at the Ranch a couple of days after the workshop was completed and all others had departed. I had a drive to do this painting and from start to finish “Circle of Life” was completed in about 10 hours, a relatively very short time of what is normally invested in a painting of this size and detail. The star that you see in this painting is part of the Brand we use at the Ranch. I felt compelled to include the star because this experience at the Ranch had contributed greatly to the finished work.
Catch and Release
Framed 30 x 38
“Catch and release is how my husband fishes in Creede, Colorado. On a prime fishing excursion, he photographed the catch in a fishing net to show me his prize before the release. As an artist, instead of seeing his prize catch I saw the dimensional values, the opaque, translucent, and transparent qualities of the fishing net. The beautiful, large fish was of secondary importance to me.
Transparent watercolor medium was the only way to capture the beauty that caught my attention. Thus, I present to you ‘Catch and Release’; given to me by a fisherman but given to you by an artist.”
