Card Players is part of the “Moments in Time” series. It depicts four boys hanging out on the beach at Ocean City, New Jersey, playing cards and listening to the radio, sometime during the 1950’s. It was inspired by old family photos. Two of the boys are my uncles. It symbolizes a slower, more innocent time, when the most important technology was the family radio.
In Flander’s Field
Gallery Wrap 16 x 20”
Throughout history, after a major war, red poppies seem to pop up in the battlefields and on soldier’s graves. Poppy seeds lay dormant in the soil and when the soil is heavily turned or dug up it causes them to sprout. The most detailed of this event took place in WWI “In Flanders Field”, Belgium. In the craters where bombs fell and on the mounds of rubble, “Poppies Galore” bloomed everywhere. The heavily churned earth and the high concentration of lime from the limestone buildings made the perfect catalyst for the poppies to grow.

Earth Mother carries her child, her heart is gold and pumped with life blood; her womb surrounded by eggs signifies birth, creativity, new beginnings, creation. Her sea legs remind us of our beginnings in water.
The “Ancestry Series“ paintings was begun to explore native peoples’ symbols & their meanings. The artist used these to tell universal stories. Each painting is executed free-hand with the story evolving as the design emerges. Dots of paint are applied using a number of different tools- whatever works.
