When my wolf-dogs were young they would run around the yard giving each other really sneaky looks, like they were cooking up trouble. Tools and wire would come up missing if they were not put away out of reach.

All those wrinkles were just too interesting to not try and capture his wild Texas spirit. He looks like a true Texan to me. The lines in his face show hard work, stubbornness, the will to overcome great odds and succeed to reach his goals of being a musician.

The objective in my night scenes is to emphasize the mystery of night by having a large dark silhouette. While painting this dark area, a shape of a dog appeared in the shadows and I decided to “go with it”. I didn’t want the dog to be alone at night, so added the figure to complete the story.
