“Lighting is everything.  The background here is a very deep dark blue.  The mustang seems to glow with his beautiful deep bay coloring.  His stride is long and very determined.  I picture him to be one of the Nevada wild horses.  Nevadans view wild horses as an emblem of the national culture, lifestyle, and the American West.  I am an advocate for the preservation of these beautiful animals.  The idea for this painting was pieced together from 3 reference photos and some pantone swatches.  I hope it captured on canvas this stallion’s radiance, natural stamina, and never ending perseverance.”
