Stephanie Lawhorn is a teaching artist that is inspired by the various colors, textures, and movements in the natural world as seen through the lens of her Christian faith.
Her creative process has been a part of Stephanie’s life since childhood. However, it was only in 2017 when God opened a door that led her to pursuing her career as a professional artist and art educator. This open door now enables Stephanie to share the beauty and inspiration of God’s creations through her paintings. While she’s perfectly at home using traditional brushes as a painting tool, and often uses them for finer detail in her work, the striking textures of her pieces are created primarily with painting knives and her own fingers. Using this method, she manipulates the heavy acrylics and other mediums across the canvas to create contrast and movement, mimicking the feelings and observations of the world around her. Although she currently works as an art educator at a private school in Texas, she is a self-taught Artist with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University.
Stephanie enjoys connecting her love of God’s flora and fauna with the creative freedom of her own intuitions. Her inspired art has won numerous awards across the state, and can be found in private collections worldwide.
