Monica Cascio's Artwork

Monica has loved painting and drawing since she was a child. It is her absolute passion. Self-taught from an early age, she has over 30 years of drawing and painting experience. Born in Europe, growing up as a child in New York City, and most of her adult life in Texas, there have been many cultural changes that influenced her world greatly, and have helped in the development of her artistic narrative. Her art pieces translate from representational to modernism…. taking traditional objects and remodeling them through color, texture and form to another dimension of interest.

Monica majored in art studies in high school and pursued a Fine Art degree in East Texas concentrating in painting and photography/graphic arts. She later attended several courses at the Fredericksburg Artist’s School near Austin, Texas and studied under artists such as Lois Griffel (author of Painting the Impressionist Landscape), Ron Rencher, Guido Frick, and David Leffel. She is currently a member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA) and American Women Artists (AWA).

Monica’s primary media of choice are oil paints and acrylics. She loves to mix a variety of color combinations and brush stroke styles to accomplish the look and feel she wants in a particular painting. Her greatest joy in creating any art piece is to move the viewer and to create a work of art that is visually harmonized, not only artistically but technically as well.
