The artistic process, for me, is more than employing various painting techniques; it is an expression of the spirit. My passion for creating art began as a small child and that passion continues to the present.
I was born in New Orleans and grew up sketching and painting in the French Quarter, parks bayous and plantation homes.
My inspiration comes from nature, things familiar in my environment and expressing myself while using my artistic imagination.
Since moving to Texas I have studied art at Tarrant County College and the University of Texas in Arlington. For 5 yrs I worked in an art studio located in the historic Ft. Worth Stockyards, where my art was sold to people from countries such as Japan, England, Italy and throughout the USA. In recent years I have had the pleasure of illustrating children’s books.
I thank God for the gift He has given me and it is my desire that my work will glorify Him. When I work I feel a closeness to God and hope that the viewer will in some way sense a spiritual connection in my art.

In this painting the subject is insignificant. I was interested in exploring the concepts of shape, color and texture. I became fascinated with texture when I observed the various barks on trees such as found on the pine and cypress. I began this painting by covering it with a heavy layer of modeling paste.  I then proceeded by carving little marks into the paste with the handle of a brush. After the paste dried it was time to think about color and shapes. There are several layers of color which allowed a little of each layer to become visible. The colors were applied intuitively while I arranged and rearranged shapes and color until I was satisfied that I had reached my goal. The time I spent with this project led me to a fun and enjoyable experience and the desire to try again using a palette of different colors and different shapes.
